Before graduating form Bastyr University in 2013, I completed a 400-hour internship in the wellness center at Mirabella retirement home in Seattle. After the internship I was hired to teach exercise classes and personal training sessions.
I am certified to be a senior fitness instructor through the American Senior Fitness Association. I am also an Enhance®Fitness and Zumba®Gold instructor. I currently teach classes for water aerobics, chair strength, chair stretch, Zumba®gold, and a combination of seated and standing classes.
Most older adults I have met want to maintain their independence and continue doing the things they enjoy.
A personalized fitness plan could help you improve muscle strength, flexibility, endurance, balance and self confidence.
Classes and personal training sessions can be adjusted to any fitness level. Before designing the program that will better fit your needs I would administer a standardized senior fitness test to determine your current fitness level. Your results will be compared to the national norms for people your own age, so we can set goals and expectations for you.
The test is simple and takes between 15-20 minutes. The purpose of the test is to assess physical functionality, which is a measure of your ability to safely and independently perform daily activities.
We will use resistance bands, dumbbells, balls and other fun tools to help you achieve your goals while improving your fitness level. Please call 206-579-7960 with questions or to set up an appointment. I travel to retirement homes, nursing homes and adult family homes.
